Three Tips to Help Prep for Back to School!
Don’t let prepping for back to school stress you out! Here are three ways you can make things easier on yourself and your child.
Supply Lists
By now, teachers have completed their supply lists for the school year. Here are some of the basics you might find on your child’s list.
If you signed up for the Santefort Neighborhoods school supplies program, we will share details with residents for picking up supplies.

- Lunch box
- Sharpie pens
- Highlighters
- Erasers
- Pencil sharpener
- Pencils
- Ballpoint pens
- Pencil pouch

Outfits for School
Don’t be afraid to shop your child’s closet for their school wardrobe. Get everything out and sorted, see if any tops and bottoms can be mixed/matched, passed down to a younger sibling, if they no longer fit, or donated. Once you have a good base of clothes, shopping for what is leftover should be an easier time. Whether you prefer to shop online or in person, you can expect to find back to school sales that will be good on your budget.
Get organized
Take some time to plan out a typical school week/day to help your child fall into a routine. If they take the bus to school, plan a day to walk to the bus stop near your home with your child to point it out. Mark each folder and notebook by subject. Most importantly, give your child a rundown of any extracurricular activities they may be enrolled in, who and what time they will be picked up.
Whatever strategies for back to school that you decide to take, make sure you have fun! It’s an exciting time of the year, so be sure to stop and enjoy it.
